A Message From Our Principal

I am honored to be your new principal at Park Elementary School! I feel truly blessed to be the instructional leader of such a strong, supportive school community.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the Fairmount community. This will be indeed my tenth year in education. During this time, my experiences include teaching second and fourth grade in a tiny little school a part of the Hamilton Southeastern School Corporation located in Fishers, Indiana. After receiving my administrative license from Ball State University, I welcomed the opportunity to learn and gain experience as an elementary assistant principal for a K-8 building in Bremen, Indiana. I am excited to bring those experiences and leadership to Park Elementary and serve the families of Fairmount. I am married to my husband, Thomas, and we have one son, T.J., who will be entering kindergarten. We also have two daughters, Kaitlan, who will be an eighth grader, and Emma Jane will be a fourth grader this fall. My husband and I were born and raised (and raising our children) in Wabash, Indiana.

All of us at Park Elementary School are eager and excited to begin what promises to be a great year. The summer crew has been busy with construction projects to improve our building and make it more beautiful than ever for our students, staff, and parents. This year is going to be great as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and builds relationships. As your principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors - staff, students, and parents - are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.

Our theme for the 2014-2015 school year is "Dream Team." Every child needs a dream - learning in the 21st century includes helping students to become “goal setters.” This theme will inspire Park Elementary students, staff, and parents to invest in their dreams and begin a lifelong journey to reach their own greatest potential.

“From the time we're little, we make wishes on stars – which makes the concept of dreams very evocative, emotive, and personally powerful. But dreams and goals are also practical and powerful in the sense of life success. Life success lies in the dreams we have, the goals we set and achieve, in what some researchers have termed planful competence." -- The Legacy Project

The students and staff will be a part of Park’s Dream Team, but we need your help. You are a special and unique part of our learning community. Collaboration with your child's teacher is a main ingredient to a healthy and successful year. Open communication is vital to ensure a successful home-school partnership throughout the year. Parent involvement is an important aspect of every child's education and is the primary factor in a students' success in school.

There are many ways in which you can participate in school. Volunteering to work in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, becoming a member of our PTO, and assisting with many activities are just a few things that you can do to make a difference.

So what are my priorities as instructional leader? My priorities as principal of Park Elementary School   includes: increasing student achievement through improving teacher quality and effectiveness in the class-room, increasing parental involvement that promotes clear support of the instructional program, and inspiring the Dream Team to become lifelong goal setters to be successful 21st century citizens. But none of my priorities are as important as our kids. This is the single most important area that I will not compromise nor take lightly. Park Elementary School students deserve the best. I am passionate about my mission as principal, and I will make decisions that are in the best interest of your child.

A new principal presents new opportunities to build upon the greatness of Park. It is a true joy to follow such a wonderful leader, Mrs. Bearman. Our job is to continue to strive for excellence, and make Park Elementary School a Dream Team that is world class.

In closing, when we all work together as a learning community and do things with our students' best interest as the focus, we will be a great school!

If I can ever be of assistance, please call or email me! I can best serve our students by promoting a collaborative learning community with consistent, honest, and open communication. Thank you for the opportunity to serve our Dream Team as we welcome each of you back to the newly renovated Park Elementary School!

Warmest Regards,

Emily K. Tracy
